AEG (part of the Electrolux Group)General AEG InformationAEG is (since 1994) yet another member of the huge Electrolux family of appliance makers. Generally, it is pitched to the upper-mid sector of the appliance market. As with many other nominally Germany-based makers AEG is steadily moving production away--usually to developing nations--owing to labor costs. Apparently much of AEG products' "guts" share much with those of their sister Electrolux lines (see the Makers of this site). As with many appliance makers, AEG sells in many countries, and the units they sell vary somewhat from nation to nation, both as to total number offered and as to exact variations of basically similar models. We took our listings here from the AEG U.K. web site. The German site, presumably the fullest listing, shows 32 different models, though it is clear that many of those are only trim variations: they appear to have perhaps 7 distinct classes of model there. The U.K. listings here seem to constitute one representative of each model class except the rather new modular Teppan cooker. But the U.K. listings also have a model not on the German site (the 98001-line unit), which is wider, at 88 centimeters, than any German-site model. Three models, noted in the German-site list, and now including one of the so-called "zoneless" types, are also available in North America through a single distributor in Canada. The various suffixes after the base model number presumaby indicate trim variations, such as stainless-steel rimmed versus frameless, but we won't venture to say here exactly what is what, lest we be in error. But you can click the links and see for yourself which is what. In the longer German-site list, we have indicated with rule lines the blocks the display is broken up into on that site; presumably those blocks signify units essentially the same "under the hood" (but that's presumably). Especially notable are AEG's "cook-anywhere" models (a feature they call "MaxiSense"): the pan can be placed anywhere on the surface of those units, which thus do not have "elements" or "zones" in the traditional sense. This, we believe, is definitely the future of induction cooking, and not every maker has it yet, by any means. The company name, by the way, goes back to 1887, when the company was the Allgemeine Electricitäts Gesellschaft (General Electrical Company). As always in these listings, we give these standard general--
