BerghoffGeneral Berghoff InformationBerghoff is a Belgian company (founded 1994) best known for cutlery and cookware; it has numerous offices scattered about the nations of the world. We guess that its line of countertop induction units is outsourced somewhere and simply branded as "Berghoff". One finds the units showing up in numerous bargain and sale outlets (which says nothing about their quality, one way or the other). Their "party cooker" is especially interesting in that it has several various attachments that can transform it into several slightly different things (grill/tepinyaki, fondue, wok, or dinner set). We spot-checked three regions: the U.S., the U.K., and Belgium (Berghoff's home country) and all three showed the same assortment of induction models available; but their main page lists over 50 separate national/regional sub-sites, so there may be other models available elsewhere. Mind, the situation is made drastically more complex by the fact that no matter what Berghoff's own pages say, retailers in various regions seem to offer very different equipment--and often under the same model numbers! As an example, Berghoff's US-specific pages show its model #1810003 as being a 240-volt unit that puts out up to 2.0 kW; but US vendors sell a Berghoff 1810003 that plugs into ordinary (for the US) 120-volt sockets and puts out 1.6 kW maximum. And there's more where that came from. Frankly, we don't have the patience to deal with sorting out makers' problems for them; if Berghoff cannot tell the world accurately what products it offers where, that's their lookout. Our advice is that if you insist on buying a Berghoff unit, read the particular seller's description carefully and do not at all rely on the model number shown or any Berghoff-supplied information. Caveat emptor. Some Berghoff units are also marketed under the EarthChef brand name. Whether that is geographically determined, we are not sure (it seems to be a name used in Canada.) As always in these listings, we give these standard general--
Berghoff Induction-Unit DataThese are the data Berghoff shows on its web site; be very aware, as we pointed out above, that units sold under these model numbers may--probably do--have characteristics drastically different from what Berghoff says for them. Berghoff lists 5 models:
