Fagor (part of the FagorBrandt Group)General Fagor InformationFagor is the parent company for a number of induction lines, and makes the guts of yet more. Not surprisingly, then, they have an extensive line, almost three dozen models, under their own name. If, however, one peels away minor variations, trim and other, there is a hard core comprising a rather smaller number of basic types, as the listings below will show. Fagor distributes this cornucopia of models nation by nation in a pattern that no doubt makes excellent sense to their marketing department, but is quite cryptic to us. In the U.K., there seem to be only two models available (neither of which is the one and only listed on Fagor's U.K. web site). In North America, they have just entered the market with a pair of units not quite like any of their others, but doubtless adapted from them; those two constitute the rapidly evolving standard pair of a 30-inch, 4-element unit and a 36-inch, 5 element unit. They are of especial interest because they are not quite in the high-firepower league of many of the other offerings, and so will work better than most in replacement situations where the wiring cannot be upgraded past 30 or 40 amps. (And they are not that much lower in wattage--for example, 7.2 kW, which they have, works on 30-amp lines, whereas 7.4 kW, which many others need, a mere 3% more power, needs 40-amp lines because wiring only comes in multiples of 10 amps.) The U.S. Fagor web site had some problems with data accuracy, at least in its early days. We have not monitored it closely of late, so don't know if those have been fixed. The data we use were obtained by telephone from Fagor's U.S.A. headquarters (which is not necessarily a 100% guarantee of accuracy, either). As always in these listings, we give these standard general--

U.K. availability:Or so they say, but we can't seem to actually find the one Fagor lists available at retail. On the other hand, some that Fagor's site doesn't list are to be found, so we include them as well.
World availability:These units are available in various nations in a pattern too complex to deal with here--check the by-nation listings at Fagor's main site.
