Kuppersbusch (part of the Teka Group)General Kuppersbusch Information(Kuppersbusch/Küppersbusch seems ambivalent about the umlauted ü--in the U.S., for example, it is not used, whereas in the U.K. it is. We'll omit it for simplicity. Even without the umlaut, it is pronounced COOPERS-BUSH.) Kuppersbusch is now owned by Teka, a company founded in the mid-1990s in Thailand; Kuppersbusch itself is a century-plus-old German company aimed at the upper part of the market (Teka itself is positioned mid-market). Kuppersbusch has distribution in numerous nations worldwide; they are part of the recent renaissance of induction equipment in North America. Like many--most--appliance makers, Kuppersbusch seems to have a lot of trouble presenting its products on the internet. Its U.K. "web site", for example, is--despite the misleading URLs that show in your browser--actually just pages on its main German site; moreover, there is not even a listing of products within the broad categories, much less and information on individual units. The U.S. site is a little better, but only a little, in that the images it presents (at least for the induction equipment) are "artist's renditions" that do not correctly depict the items (they show an "element bridge" where none exists) and some of the specs are wrong. Their German site--presumably their "home base"--is Flash-bedevilled, and normal page links to the unit pages on that site don't work; fortunately, what man can screw up, man can fix, and we have provided an "intermediary" reader program that will fetch and display those pages for you (at our expense of server time and bandwidth--thank you yet again, Kuppersbusch). And their Belgian site has some data that conflict with those given on the German site. Sigh. (Oh, yes, this too: the downloadable manuals don't quite match the models--307.1 gets the 307.0 manual, for example.) All in all, we have done what we can. For the U.S. listings, the chief problems are associated with power data: some units use power-sharing, and that's ok, but for others the sum of the individual-element powers is curiously mis-aligned with the unit total shown, in a way not suggestive of power sharing (such as a sum of 7.5 kW vs. a unit maximum of 7.4 kW); moreover, the data of the display web pages sometimes does not match that in the product manuals (when there were differences, we went by the manuals for our data). So (as always) caveat emptor. As always in these listings, we give these standard general--

U.K. availabilityKuppersbusch offersn not only numerous models, but typically several trim variants of each. So far as we can see, the base models and their variants supposedly available at retail in the U.K. comprise these. What exactly the difference is between bevelled edges and black trim is unclear to us, but they seem to make a distinction.
European Models:As noted above, Kuppersbusch appears to have numerous basic models, most with trim variations. Sorting out which currently exist is problematic owing to the monstrously messy conflicting and incomplete information on their several national web sites (there are nine). We started with the German site, reckoning that as that is Kuppersbisch's homeland, it would be the most complete and accurate list; you can see (in German) a tabulation of all the data they list there for induction (and other fuel) hobs by clicking on the link in this sentence. That list shows 9 basic models (6 of which are available with trim variants, making 15 versions). Of those base 9, only 7 are shown on the German site itself, nor could we find them on any other Kuppersbusch site. Several of the Kuppersbusch national sites give no detailed product information (including the U.K. site), and the U.S. site is a special world of its own, with four products that are minor variations (presumably to meet particulars of the U.S. electrical codes) of standard parts of their line--indeed, outside the Western hemisphere, only the German, Belgian, and Spanish Kuppersbusch sites actually list models. If all that sounds an unholy mess, it was and is. We have done the best we can to extract data, and the results are listed below (these are only types not already listed above for the U.K.); in not a few cases, it is uncertain that the data supplied by Kuppersbusch exactly match the unit meant--see the note above about product manuals, for example. Anyway, here they are.
