ILVE Induction Hobs

"Produce! Produce!
Were it but the pitifullest infintesimal fraction
of a product, produce it in God's name!
'Tis the utmost thou hast in thee: out with it, then."

—Thomas Carlyle

General ILVE Information

ILVE is an acronym for Industria Lavorazione Veneta Elettrodomestici, a 60-plus-year-old Italian company that makes high-end equipment for both commercial and residential use. We advisedly include that second category because their stuff is built like a battleship, and even though one of their lines' products are pictured in obviously domestic situations, it's hard to imagine them as anything but commercial. But there are always high-end buyers, so it must be so.

On a worldwide basis, ILVE has two basic lines, each prolific: the self-describing Commercial and the apparently residential Majestic. Each comprises solely large ranges, most or all of which are available in quite a rainbow of bright enamelled finishes. Though the array is enormous, there are basically only a few modules that come in varying sizes; the induction tops in particular (and these are all available with gas and often ceramic-electric tops, too) come in only a few basic patterns, which depend on the unit width.

So far, ILVE is only offering a single induction-topped range in the U.S. Whether the line will expand remains to be seen.
