The Thermador CIT36XKB is a "zoneless" unit: you can place up to four cooking vessels of any size and shape--so long as they all fit on the cooktop--in any orientation or location. This is a huge plus if you regularly use such things as grills, griddles, fish pans, and other such non-round or oversize cookware.
(There is a similar unit available from Gaggenau, which is another part of the BSH appliance conglomerate.)
